1. Team members must stay together the whole time they are on the course.
2. All team members must go to each checkpoint visited by the team. 
3. All participants are responsible for their own safety while they participate.
4. All participants must check in with event staff before leaving the area.  In case of emergency, the participant or a team member must notify event staff of the situation as soon as possible.
5. Teams must refrain from disturbing or removing any cultural artifacts, flagging tape, or trail signs.
6. Points will be deducted from the scores of late returning teams.  The per-minute point penalty will be announced at the event, but teams finishing more than 30 minutes late will receive a score of zero.
